Albemarle County officials are asking earthquake victims for help as they prepare to appeal the denial of federal disaster aid for individuals.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency denied Gov. Bob McDonnell's request for individual assistance in Albemarle and King George counties in December. Individual assistance for residents in several other counties and the city of Fredericksburg was approved.
Albemarle County's Office of Emergency Management says it needs to prove that several homes sustained significant damage. The office is asking residents whose homes were damaged by the Aug. 23 earthquake to contact Emergency Management Coordinator Marge Thomas at 434-971-1263 or mthomas@albemarle.org.
