Bond Set for Crimora Man Charged with Malicious Burning

Posted: Updated:

A Crimora man with a history of bomb making has a chance to get out of jail.  Paul Lenwill Cupp, 35, faces one charge of malicious burning.

Cupp is accused of setting fire to the Hildebrand Mennonite Church in Augusta County this past October.  The fire destroyed only some vinyl siding before a passerby put it out.

During a hearing Tuesday afternoon, a judge set bond at $5,000.  Prosecutors had argued against bail, saying the case is similar to Cupp's two prior convictions.
