Cremation: There's an App for That
There is an application for just about everything, and now the Cremation Society of Virginia has created the first app to help you after the death of a loved one - or if you just want to plan ahead.
The Cremation Society of Virginia, based in Charlottesville and Richmond, prides itself on staying ahead of technology and simplifying all aspects of dealing with the loss of a family member. The new app provides information about cremation (including an informational video), a step-by-step questionnaire to report a death, and a marketplace to buy cremation packages. The app also provides one touch calling and directions to their locations.
Kyle Gibbs, the managing funeral director for the Cremation Society of Virginia explained, "They might be at a nursing facility or somewhere that they don't have a laptop or notebook in front of them. And they can get on their cell phone...we wanted it to be at the touch of their fingertip."
The company hopes caregivers will also download the app so they can answer questions for family members about the cremation process. It is available for iPhones, Androids, and Windows phones.
