Stanardsville Receives Grant for STAR Program

The town of Stanardsville is getting a leg up when it comes to Main Street improvements. The Stanardsville Area Revitalization program, or STAR, just received a grant from the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.

The $7,500 grant will help pay for administrative costs that come along with the town's streetscape enhancement project.

STAR Executive Director Roy Dye said, "This will allow us to hire, on a temporary basis, the kind of legal and technical expertise that we will need to fulfill our responsibilities."

The improvements will include new sidewalks and crosswalks, curb extensions, trees, and lighting. Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2012.
