Albemarle Police Searching for Missing Man

Albemarle County Police Department Press Release

The Albemarle County Police and the Albemarle County Sheriff's Office seek the assistance of the public in helping to locate a missing person. 

James Alvin Shifflett, 69 years of age, of Earlysville, Virginia, was last seen at his residence in the 4100 block of Earlysville Road just prior to 8:00 P.M.  Shortly thereafter the Albemarle County Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Earlysville Road for a reported disabled vehicle in the roadway.  Upon police arrival, the vehicle was found with its headlights on and the keys removed from the vehicle.  Police and fire rescue personnel searched the area and met negative results. 

The Albemarle County Sheriff's Office search and rescue team has been activated as well as a contingency of underwater recovery teams from the region.

If anyone witnessed an older model red Ford F150 being operated on Earlysville Road shortly before 8:00 P.M. and 8:10 P.M. please contact the Albemarle County Police Department at 434-296-5807 or Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
