The next great product could come from the University of Virginia thanks to collaboration between the Darden School of Business and the School of Engineering.
MBA students and engineering students are teaming up to create a range of different products and services.
A design fair was held Monday in the Saunders Hall lobby where students displayed their products and services. This included products like shoes with detachable heels, software mapping body motion and even a smart coffee mug washer.
The goal is to help students learn the process of going from idea to product.
Raul Chao, an assistant professor at Darden School of Business said, "It's not so much about what the idea actually involves, as the experience of prototyping something, of understanding what users want, and what users need, and actually going through the process during the class."
These ideas can extend beyond the classroom. Some products developed during past courses have gone on to become full-fledged businesses.
