LOUISA, Va. (AP) - Dominion Virginia Power is beginning to restart the second nuclear reactor at its North Anna Power Station in Louisa County.
According to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission website, Unit 2 was at 7% as of Monday morning. Unit 1 reached full power on Friday.
The reactors automatically shut down after a 5.8-magnitude quake on Aug. 23 caused peak ground movement about twice the level for which the plant was designed.
Federal regulators gave the company the go-ahead to restart the reactors on Nov. 11.
The company had said that it would take about 10 days for both reactors to be back at full power. But Dominion said that delays were possible as both reactors were being restarted in phases so that safety testing could be completed.
