Former White House Chef Visits Martha Jefferson Hospital

Patients and staff at Martha Jefferson hospital got a special treat Wednesday - a visit from a former White House chef.

John Hanny spent 30 years working as a chef to the presidents. He served under Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Clinton.

Wednesday, he whipped up some of the former presidents' favorite meals in the hospital's café while sharing some stories from his days in the White House.

Hanny said, "The presidents would come down in the kitchen and they'd stick their fingers in the soup and they would taste things. I would work on some of the state dinners, and I earned my master's degree at the White House."

Hanny was also on hand to sign copies of his book, "Secrets from the White House Kitchens". A portion of the proceeds from Wednesday's book sales will go to help Martha Jefferson Hospital.
