Part of an Augusta County elementary school is getting torn down before it gets built up.
Monday afternoon, crews began demolishing the gymnasium at Wilson Elementary in Fishersville. It stands in the way of a major expansion, which will go under construction this fall. The $15 million project includes a new gym, media center and a two-story classroom wing.
But for this school year, Wilson students will take a short bus ride to the county-owned gym for physical education classes.
