The University of Virginia Lorna Sundberg International Center offers a number of programs and activities for international students and serves as housing for some international students. Friday the center hosted its first open house.
Normally it reaches out to students in other ways, but decided an open house would be a great way to allow everyone a glimpse of some of the activities that go on in the house.
Cooking is a popular activity. Students and volunteers whipped up spring rolls and other international cuisine on Friday.
Program Coordinator Quynh Nguyen said, "What we want is the space to be a warm, inviting, casual environment. For everyone to feel like this is sort of their home away from home. Meet people from your country, from other countries."
