Former Albemarle High School kicker Nick Novak is getting another chance in the National Football League.
Novak agreed to a contract with the San Diego Chargers Tuesday, beating out former Virginia Tech kicker Shayne Graham for the job.
Novak, who was with the Chargers in training camp in 2010, replaces Nate Kaeding, who's out for the season after tearing a ligament in his left leg Sunday.
In his fourth NFL season, Novak has kicked for the Redskins and Cardinals and last kicked in a regular season game for the Chiefs in 2008.
