One Year Later Clarke's Family Still Mourning, Questioning

Posted: Updated:

It's been one year since an Orange County teenager went missing, leaving no signs of what happened.  Samantha Ann Clarke's family is mourning her loss Tuesday night, still with more questions than answers.

Clarke was 19 years old when she disappeared.  That was exactly one year ago Tuesday, and unfortunately, not much has changed for her family.

Clarke's family gathered to remember her by launching candle lanterns into the sky.  It was their way of sending out their message of hope for her return and help from the community to find her.

"We just pray she comes home," said Barbara Tinder, Clarke's mother.

Tinder's home is covered with Clarke's smile - photos lining the walls, scattered around the living room and keeping her face around so no one can forget.

Tinder stated, "It's been rough and it's still rough cause we don't have no answers."

The investigation into Clarke's disappearance has led police to Greene Acres Lake in Greene County at least 10 times.  But so far, the clues haven't brought the family much piece of mind.

"Very frustrated. Not knowing if they're even doing their job like they're supposed to or if they know something they're not telling me," Tinder said.

In fact, Tinder says she hasn't heard from the Town of Orange Police Chief Jim Fenwick for a month or so, but she hopes to hear something about the investigation soon.

Tinder said, "We want Samantha home. We miss her and love her."

NBC29's calls to Fenwick went unreturned Tuesday night.  If you have any information, please call the Town of Orange Police Department at (540) 672-1491 or Orange County Sheriff's Office at (540) 672-1200.
