Greene County Overdose Investigation Leads to Drug Arrests

Rafael Hernandez, 23, of Ruckersville, has been charged with felony possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and felony possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Three men are in jail after Greene County sheriffs responded to an overdose in Ruckersville. Vincent Antunez, Rafael Hernandez, and Jesus Corchado all face felony drug charges.

Deputies were assisting EMS at a home on Hastings Lane when they noticed contraband sitting out in plain view. They recovered several things, including a handgun, 15 pounds of marijuana and 30 grams of crack cocaine.

All the suspects are being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail, pending a hearing on Wednesday.


News Release From the Greene County Sheriff's Office:

Three individuals have been arrested in connection with an overdose investigation that led to the discovery of narcotics, weapons and money.  Major Randall Snead states that on August 14th, 2011 deputies were summons to the Hastings Lane area of Ruckersville to assist the Rescue Squad on a reported accidental overdose of a 20 year old Hispanic male. 

Upon arrival deputies were assisting EMS and noticed in plain view illegal contraband.  Once the victim of the overdose was in the care of EMS, the location was secured and a search warrant was obtained. The subsequent search by Sheriff's Office personnel yielded narcotics paraphernalia, a .380 handgun, $1,327 in U.S. currency, an undisclosed amount of foreign currency, 15 pounds of marijuana and 30 grams of crack cocaine.   

Major Snead states that two individuals residing at that location and one having a Texas address have been arrested and are being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange County.  They will appear in Greene County General District Court for a bond hearing on Wednesday August 17th, 2011 at 9am.  They are:

  • Vicente Beltran Antunez of Ruckersville a 42 year old Hispanic male has been charged with Felony Possession with intent to distribute Cocaine, Felony Possession of a Firearm while in possession of a controlled substance and Felony Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana.
  • Rafael Hernandez of Ruckersville, a 23 year old Hispanic male has been charged with Felony Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana and Felony Possession with intent to distribute Cocaine.
  • Jesus Corchadho of Texas, a 25 year old Hispanic male has been charged with Felony Destruction of Evidence with intent to obstruct an investigation, Felony Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana and Felony Possession with intent to distribute Cocaine.

The victim of the overdose is not being named at this time due to the severity of his condition and is currently in the care of a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
