According to Jim Rich with the Commonwealth Transportation Board time is ticking for Charlottesville and Albemarle County to get their share of new transportation funding.
Rich spoke at the quarterly planning and coordination council meeting between Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and the University of Virginia. The transportation board votes next month on how to allocate new funding appropriated by the General Assembly.
Charlottesville City Manager Maurice Jones said, "We are not receiving the money back to our area that we believe we should be receiving, so we'll be using all the tools at our disposal to lobby folks in Richmond to provide us with our fair share of the money."
Some of those projects include the widening of Route 29 near the Route 250 bypass interchange, the Belmont Bridge project, and the plan to extend Hillsdale Drive.
