ACC Lacrosse Tournament Pairings Set

Posted: Updated:

The ACC men's and women's lacrosse tournament brackets are now set.

Just like last year, the UVA men will play Duke in back-to-back games.

Based on a goal differential tie breaker, the defending tournament champion Cavaliers are the #4 seed, despite finishing 1-2 in conference, along with Maryland and North Carolina.

The Terps and Heels will play Friday night at 5:00 in Durham in the first semifinal, followed by Virginia's return trip to Duke (after losing to the Blue Devils Saturday) to face the top seeded defending national champions, who were 3-0 in ACC play, at 7:30.

The winners of those two semifinals will meet Sunday afternoon for the championship at 3:30.

On the women's side, Virginia earns the #6 seed and will play #3 seed North Carolina Thursday night at 7:30 in the first quarterfinal in Cary, North Carolina.

The ACC originally had UVA as the #4 seed against Boston College, but changed the pairings after amending the process used for breaking ties in the standings.

UNC beat the Cavaliers 8-7 earlier this season in Chapel Hill, and the winner of THursday's game advances to #2 seed Duke in the conference semifinals.

The 5th seed Virginia Tech faces #4 seed BC in the other quarterfinal Thursday night at 5pm.

The winner of that game faces defending national champion Maryland in the second round.

The championship game will take place Sunday afternoon at 1pm.
