Imagine strolling through a field filled with 60,000 tulips. It may seem like a majestic scene from a movie, but this weekend, it's coming to life in Madison County at Eco Tulips.

The 2nd Annual Organic Tulip Festival Kicks off Saturday and it's the only festival of its kind in the entire country. Jeroen Koeman is known by many as the Tulip Man. He comes from a family of tulip farmers in Holland and last year, he and his wife Keriann decided to bring Holland's famous tulip fields to Virginia.

"Everyone was just so happy. It's sort of like, 'if you build it, they will come,' - and that happened," said Keriann.

More than 3,000 people took part in last year's Organic Tulip Festival. Guests are invited to pick their own tulips for a $1 a piece.

Keriann explained, "they are grown without using synthetic pesticides," which is what makes the tulips organic and better for the ecosystem.

"We find that these tulips will last a couple days longer than your average conventional tulip," she added.

This week's cooler temperatures and the threat of frost proved challenging for the pair.

"It was a little scary, but they pretty much all survived," said Jeroen.

While peak bloom is not expected until April 9, life on the farm is in full bloom with wine tastings and tours.

"I just cannot wait to get some sunshine and actually see it start to bloom - and see all of our hard work and what it looks like," said Keriann.

The festival begins Saturday and will continue through April 24.
