Firefighters Training in Honor of Fallen First Responder

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters from across the commonwealth trained in Albemarle County this weekend, to save lives in honor of a fallen first responder.

Crews from Richmond, Lynchburg, and even North Carolina, learned how to break into homes and safely rescue people from a fire. The annual training is in honor of Walker Sisk, a Seminole Trail Firefighter who was killed in 2003.

Charlottesville Fire Department Captain Timmy Cersley said, "To have a class that's named after Walker is a huge honor, obviously for his memory and for his family, and to be able to come out and take the class in his memory just proves that he's still living on and that the brotherhood is strong."

About 45 firefighters took part in the two-day training.
