A former high school teacher is tossing his hat into the ring for an open seat on Albemarle County's School Board.
Ned Gallaway announced his candidacy for the at-large seat Tuesday afternoon at Agnor-Hurt Elementary School, where his daughter is a third grader. Gallaway represents the school on the county's parent council. He taught high school in Ohio and is now getting his doctorate from UVA's Curry School of Education.
"I'm passionate that we have to prepare our children for the future. That's the fundamental reason I'm going to run. Our children's education is the strongest investment we can make," said Gallaway.
He supports yearly audits to find inefficiencies and savings. The school board appointed an interim at-large member back in September. The election is November 8th.
