Christopher Williams, MD 

Christopher Williams, MD, is one of our fertility specialists. Dr. Williams is sub-specialty board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, is a member of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Williams graduated from the University of Virginia Medical School in 1994. Following his graduation, he completed a four year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center. Dr. Williams completed his training in 1998 when he was selected by The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to complete a three-year Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. From 2001 until 2005, Dr. Williams served on the UVA Faculty and was the co-director of the In Vitro Fertilization Program.  He is the Medical Director and Director of In Vitro Fertilization at Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia.

Dr. Williams continues to be actively involved in research. He has published numerous research articles, and has received research grant support from organizations. Dr. Williams is a co-investigator on a National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grant assessing the influence of acupuncture on menstrual cycles in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and is the author of "The Fastest Way to Get Pregnant Naturally."

Laura Smith, MD 

Laura Smith, MD, is a fertility specialist at Reproductive Medicine and Surgery Center of Virginia. Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the Association of Women Surgeons, and a member of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. 

Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Virginia Medical School in 2003. Following her graduation, she completed her four year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UVA. From 2007-2010, Dr. Smith completed a three year Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston IVF, affiliate programs of Harvard Medical School. During her fellowship, Dr. Smith received a grant for her research on a new biologic pathway in the ovary. She continues to have an active interest in research.

Bruce Bateman, MD 

Bruce Bateman, MD is one of the fertility specialists at RMSCVA. Dr. Bateman is sub-specialty board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, is a member of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Bateman is also a member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons. 

Dr. Bateman graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1970. Following graduation, Dr. Bateman completed a four year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Virginia, followed by a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. 

Dr. Bateman served on the UVA faculty for twenty-four years. In 1986 he founded the In Vitro Fertilization program and was a co-director of the program. Dr. Bateman also served as the Director of the Division of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, University of Virginia, for 10 years.
