A non-profit called Therapeutic Adventures is helping people with disabilities pick up a rod and cast away. A group of about 10 were out on the river for the adaptive anglers on the fly camp this weekend.

They learned how to make lures and cast, how to properly catch and release fish and how to improve the environment. This is the seventh year the program has teamed up with Trout Unlimited to teach fly fishing.

President of the Thomas Jefferson Chapter of Trout Unlimited James Damron said, "It's good to give something back to the community, to serve people that otherwise wouldn't have the chance to do these kinds of activities."

Camp participants are of all ages and disabilities. The program also hosts trips for boating, biking, skiing and other outdoor activities.
