Foundation members are excited for what these facilities will do to help the school and its students grow in years to come.
The Charlottesville Waldorf School unveiled a new facility Sunday that is a first for sustainability efforts in the commonwealth. Students, parents, and staff came out to see the finished performance pavilion and library.
It's the first completely low impact design in Virginia, and it uses 80 percent less energy than a conventional building. Foundation members are excited for what these facilities will do to help the school and its students grow in years to come.
Charlottesville Waldorf School Foundation Capital Campaign Chairman Bobby Llewellyn said, "It will mean the expansion of a wonderful education, and, hopefully invite more families with young children to the school so we can expand to a high school."
Fundraising for the project took several years, but the school's foundation hopes students will appreciate both the space and its green construction.
