#18 UMass Scores 18 Unanswered in 2nd Half to Beat #15 JMU 21-14
The #15 James Madison football team lost to #18 Massachusetts 21-14 Saturday afternoon at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg. UMass trailed 14-3 at half but scored 18 unanswered points in the second half for the win.
The Dukes fall to 4-4 overall this season, 1-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association. After starting the season 3-0, JMU has lost three straight games and four out of its last five games.
Massachusetts led 3-0 after the first quarter, but James Madison scored two touchdowns to take a 14-3 halftime lead. UMass cut the lead to 14-6 with a field goal in the third quarter. The Minutemen then tied the game at 14 on a touchdown and two-point conversion early in the fourth quarter. UMass then scored another touchdown to make it 21-14.
JMU outgained the Minutemen 359-302. The Dukes rushed for 180 yards and passed for 179 yards.
Senior quarterback Drew Dudzik tallied a career-high 277 yards of total offense in the loss. He had 12 carries for 98 yards. Dudzik also completed 13 of 25 passing for 179 yards.
Senior running back Jamal Sullivan had 21 carries for 73 yards and two touchdowns for James Madison.
