The new South Lawn will be dedicated in a ceremony Friday.
The University of Virginia is preparing to show off the newest addition to grounds at a ceremony Friday.
Governor Bob McDonnell, university President Teresa Sullivan and others will be on hand for a dedication of the completed South Lawn. The $105 million addition includes three academic buildings: Nau Hall, Gibson Hall, and the commons building connecting the two.
"We feel that it's a great compliment to the lawn on the other side of Jefferson Park Avenue and it gives us incredible teaching space, meeting space, and study space," said UVA Director of Space Management Anna Towns.
The new group of buildings connects to the original lawn via a 100 foot-wide overpass above Jefferson park Avenue. The expansive bridge also features a grassy lawn of its own.
