A 54-year-old Fishersville woman who was convicted of assaulting a sheriff's deputy learned her fate on Thursday.
A judge ordered Judy Desetti to serve six months in jail. However, he'll allow her to stay out on bond while she prepares an appeal.
The assault dates back just over a year, when a deputy from the Augusta Sheriff's Office was at Desetti's home to arrest her son. Desetti claimed the deputy trapped her arm in a door, and that she hit him once in self-defense.
