Faculty and staff at Piedmont Virginia Community College were treated to a special guest on Thursday. University of Virginia President Teresa Sullivan was on campus for a welcome reception.

Sullivan talked about the long-standing relationship between the two schools and how she's hoping for it to expand. Right now, about 100 students transfer from PVCC to UVA every year.

Sullivan said, "In the days ahead, I intend to work with President Friedman to sustain and strengthen UVA's relationship with PVCC. I look forward to getting to know many of you as we work together."

More than 2,300 PVCC students have made the move to UVA over the last 30 years. The two institutions share a number of professors and are working on a joint childcare facility.
