There are less than 50 days to go until Decision 2010 and the candidates are out across the 5th District pushing their platforms.  Incumbent Tom Perriello and Independent candidate Jeff Clark went head-to-head in Cumberland County Sunday for the NAACP forum.

Republican Robert Hurt opted out of the debate. This is the third debate in which Hurt has failed to participate.

Hurt says that there are two points of view that are important in the 5th District race, and Clark's is not one of them. "We should not be distracted by the debate on debates and we shouldn't be distracted by anything that would take any time away from discussing those two important issues," said Hurt.

Hurt says that he trusts voters will have all of the information they need by November 2nd without a three-way debate. Perriello and Hurt will debate each other on NBC29 October 21st.
