Virginia's first lady spent Saturday evening at Monticello to promote the commonwealth's growing wine industry.
Wine connoisseurs gathered around Thomas Jefferson's hilltop home for the inaugural Monticello Wine Festival. The festival was held on the west lawn from 6:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m.
The event brought ten of the region's vineyards to an audience of eager wine tasters including First Lady Maureen McDonnell. McDonnell says the wine industry is a natural fit for Virginia because of the commonwealth's roots in agriculture.
