A Staunton teenager accused of killing her baby last year has failed to get her alleged confession thrown out. Ashkea Johnson faces a first-degree murder charge in Staunton.

Prosecutors say the 18-year-old Johnson smothered her 2-month-old baby girl last November. During a hearing Tuesday afternoon, Johnson's attorney argued that police coerced her into confessing to the murder.

But the judge ruled that the interview was legal and voluntary.

Johnson goes to trial in December.
