Managing the area's water resources was the hot topic Thursday afternoon for the Rivanna Conservation Society.
Charlottesville Mayor Dave Norris was on hand to talk about the challenges ahead. Norris said they have not done a good job at keeping up with water issues and looking at the 50 Year Water Supply Plan gives them a fresh start.
"It's vital," declared Norris. "We would not exist without having and adequate supply of water and our environment depends on having quality water."
Norris says he would like to have a decision on the water supply plan by the end of the year.
The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority, who is in charge of making the plan a reality, is getting new numbers and information for all those involved.
