What a day!  It started with being awoken by an aftershock at 5:30 AM.  It wasn't a large one, but it still woke me up.

After that, we hiked into deep mountains to fix several homes built by BGF.  The hike took two hours. At times we were hiking straight up rocks.  I have never done anything like that before.  It was interesting to say the least.

All of the homes survived the earthquake.  Some needed minor repairs.  We replaced half a roof and added some pieces on to the other homes.

A Haitian woman gave me a tour of a non-BGF house.  I have to say it was very depressing.  There were big holes in the walls – allowing rain, animals and other things to get in.  But the family that lived there was happy to be alive.

It's such an interesting thing I've seen here – despite all the tragedy, people are happy.  As we drive down the road to our destinations (in the bed of a truck) Haitian children will run to the road and yell and  wave hello.

We are back at the compound now.  We just had dinner – beans and rice.
