In the third and final day of the Major League Baseball Draft, two more Cavalier baseball players were selected. Pitcher Matt Packer was taken in the 32nd round by the Cleveland Indians.
Starting short stop Tyler Cannon was picked in the 41st round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cannon is batting .339 in his first year of switch hitting. He's got 75 hits this season and 37 RBI.
He's a pretty good fielder, too.
O'Connor thought Cannon would be picked between the 7th and 10th rounds. Cannon may have slipped in the draft because he may plan to come back to UVA for his senior year.
