Several families in Buckingham County are without a home after flames ripped through their apartment complex Tuesday afternoon. Fire officials say the complex has a lot of damage and the 20 adults and four children who live there have to find somewhere else to live.
The blaze broke out around 5 p.m. at the B&W apartment complex on Route 60 near Sprouse’s Corner. Someone who was in the apartment that caught fire said it started on a stove. Polly Flowers, a resident at the apartment, said the fire destroyed all of her belongings.
"All my stuff gone and everything. I don't have nothing, I don't have nothing," said Flowers.
Crews say the cause of the fire is still being investigated. Firefighters had a hard time battling the blaze because they said the building was old and the fire crept into the walls and roof of the building. No one was injured.
The Red Cross provided shelter for the families overnight.
