A Charlottesville ambulance might be the one taking you to the hospital in the future and you may get a bill for it.
The Charlottesville and Albemarle County have formed two committees to tackle two issues.
One issue is billing for ambulance service. If passed, the fee would apply to both city and county residents who use the service.
The other issue is whether the city should start up an ambulance service to supplement the Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad.
"It's about response time and having available units to cover the capacity we're faced with," explained Charlottesville Fire Chief Charles Werner.
The fire chief says the measures are all preliminary but city council has set aside almost $ 1 million for a rescue squad.
The committee will meet again in September.
