Senator Jim Webb was in Charlottesville Monday. He gave a lecture to the same UVA class that Senator John Warner fielded questions in a week ago.
Students in Larry Sabato's politics class focused on the same issue they had last week--the war in Iraq. Webb remained focused on three issues he campaigned for election with: organizing national security, economic fairness and government accountability.
There were a lot of questions for Webb Monday, but Webb says he takes away new knowledge from these types of discussions.
"In these sessions, I learn a lot, too. The questions are really good questions...so the one thing I hope that they would take away is that there are people in government who really care about the future of the country," stated Webb.
As far as the war in Iraq, Sabato says that 76 percent of Congress has never served in the military and out of 535 members only 14 have a son or daughter fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan right now.
Webb has served in the military and he also has a son serving in the military in Iraq.
Also during Monday's lecture, Webb was asked if he was being considered as a presidential running mate but he said he had no comment and was quickly rushed away.
