A growing number of homeless in Charlottesville is causing concerns for businesses.
Merchants including the owner of Siips Wine & Champagne Bar, George Benford, say Charlottesville's homeless problem is hurting their bottom line.
Benford says the issue affects his outdoor business, especially when some get loud and use profanity. Benford says it's a fine line to walk.
Benford said, "You feel badly for them. What you want to see is a plan that does not necessarily hurt the homeless but also understands business and the affect it has on business."
The Downtown Business Association is meeting with the owner of The Haven at First and Market, a day shelter for the homeless.
The hope is that the shelter will give the homeless a place to stay during the day and the tools to turn their lives around.
