Saturday's game at Land Shark Stadium was a far cry from Virginia's last appearance in Miami in 2007, when the Wahoo's closed the Orange Bowl with a 48-0 win.
It was the home team dishing out the punishment this time around, as Miami handed Virginia its third-straight loss, crushing the Cavaliers 52-17.
UVA falls to 3-6 on the season.
Virginia trailed just 24-17 at halftime, after Trey Womack blocked a Miami punt, and Bill Schautz picked up the bouncing ball and returned it 19 yards for the touchdown late in the half.
It was the second blocked punt in the game for UVA, as a partial block in the 1st half set up a Rashawn Jackson touchdown to give the Wahoos a 10-3 advantage.
But the UVA defense would be unable to stop the Cane's offense, as Miami posted 515 net yards.
It's the third-straight time the 'Hoos have allowed more than 400 yards of total offense.
Marc Verica went wire-to-wire at quarterback for Virginia, filling in for Jameel Sewell.
Verica completed 11 of 29 passes for 75 yards with one interception, and Vic Hall never made an appearance at QB.
"It's disappointing," says Verica, "you can't win games with the style of play we had today. Penalties, turnovers, not capitalizing on drives. We got a couple of games left, and we're just going to keep our heads up, and keep playing."
Jackson led the way on the ground with 77 yards rushing and the one score.
The Cavs were just 1/11 on 3rd down.
Miami held the ball for 36 minutes, compared to just 24 for UVA.
The Hurricanes ran for 268 yards, and passed for 247 more.
Al Groh's record with Virginia falls to 59-50 with the loss.
