Shenandoah National Park Improvements

Posted: Updated:

A million dollars from the federal stimulus will pay for improvements in the Shenandoah National Park this fall.

The National Park Service awarded its first construction contract to start work on Shenandoah’s facilities. Crews will repave roads, parking areas, and trailheads, including the Lewis Mountain and South River picnic grounds.

A total of $30-million in stimulus projects will rehabilitate park facilities along Skyline Drive and overlooks starting next spring.
