A Fluvanna County family whose home was destroyed by a fire got a new start on Sunday.
The Stratton family walked through the doors of their new, rebuilt home. A fire destroyed their house on North Ruritan Drive in December.
“Well the original house was nice, but it's not spectacular like this one is,” said Marsha Walsh-Stratton. “But the other one was my childhood home. But this one, we can make new memories in. And a lot of love has gone into this house.”
The family says their dog saved their lives when he woke them up as the fire started to spread.
The Strattons have been staying in a rental home at Lake Monticello since the fire. The woman who owns the rental house rebuilt the home the family moved into Sunday.
