South Carolina's Anderson University has received an $8 million gift to its graduate programs. The donation from the late David T. Clamp was announced at Saturday's graduation.
The university will honor the Honea Path native by naming its new Christian ministry graduate school after Clamp.
The $8 million gift is the largest in the 98-year history of the Baptist affiliated school.
University President Evans Whitaker says he met with Clamp and his wife several times at their Waynesboro home, and Clamp was impressed with the university and felt his gift would pay dividends well beyond his lifetime.
The school will open its Christian ministry graduate program this fall.
