NBC29 Archive: ABC Agents Wrongly Arrest UVA Student

ABC agents arrested 20-year-old UVA student Elizabeth Daly after they thought the sparkling water she bought was beer.

Daly said the officers who approached her showed unidentifiable badges. She planned to talk to them through her car window, but when she started the car, the officers reacted, and one of them drew a gun. She drove away and called 911. The operator confirmed the officers were legitimate and Daly was arrested.

The charges were dropped two months later and her record was expunged. Saying the sting has left her with post-traumatic stress disorder, she is suing for $40 million.
