Whole Foods Pledges to Match Donations to AHIP

A Charlottesville-based nonprofit is gaining a little support from Whole Foods.

The Albemarle Housing Improvement Program helps make necessary repairs to homes for those who can't afford them. AHIP held an open house at Whole Foods in Charlottesville Friday to bring awareness to the cause.

Whole Foods has pledged to match donations to AHIP up to $1,000.

"People don't realize that in the county and the city we have 250 children right now waiting for home repairs. Critical home repairs, things like mold remediation, so they don't have problems with asthma, things like leaking roofs,” said Ravi Respeto, director of marketing for AHIP.

They say the cold weather this time of year results in the most home repairs. They average six to eight calls every week.
