
Charlottesville’s Habitat for Humanity needs your help, and it's not your money they're after. They just need a little bit of your time, handiwork, and sweat.
Volunteers from the University of Virginia JAG School came out Saturday morning to help build, but the organization needs more people to offer their time. It's looking for volunteers Tuesday through Saturday, and needs around 15 people for each shift.
"We get people who are retired and who originally worked in the construction field; we get people who have never lifted a hammer," said Robin Francis, a volunteer coordinator.
In 2006, the organization built six houses in six days across the street from the group’s current site. The homes being built now are phase two of the project. The homes will be for low-income families and people in the workforce.
