Virginia's Senate race is in the final stretch in the battle of the former governors.
Democrat Mark Warner maintains a double-digit lead over Republican Jim Gilmore, and Warner's not slowing down in the final hours.
At a rally on the University of Virginia's South Lawn on Sunday, the U.S. Senate candidate urged volunteers to canvass neighborhoods to help drive Democrats to victory in Virignia on November 4.
Hundreds of students and supporters turned out to listen to the Democrat make his case. Warner spoke about fixing the current financial mess and making progress toward energy independence.
Warner has a two-to-one lead with likely Central Virginia voters, according to several in-state polls, but he's not taking any chances. "There are still a few folks who I think are undecided, and if they can come out and help make the case of why I should be the next senator or Barack Obama the next president, it's very important," he said.
Many volunteers who attended the rally were planning to canvass 2,000 homes across Charlottesville and Albemarle County on Sunday and Monday.
Warner left Charlottesville for a rally in Winchester. His Republican opponent Jim Gilmore was scheduled to address supporters in Portsmouth Sunday evening.
