We have confirmed the identification of the man who was shot by police during Friday morning's raid at Yonder Hill. Two independent sources with connections to last week's shootings investigation said his name is Edgar Dawson, the farm manager at Yonder Hill.
He's recovering at the University of Virginia Medical Center after being shot in the arm and chest during that raid. John Zwerling, Dawson's attorney, told us Dawson is in serious, but stable condition.
Virginia State Police said he's not a suspect and has not been charged. His attorney said Dawson has a tube coming out of his stomach. He also said that both of Dawson's hands and chest are bandaged.
"He's in pain. He's recovering from the gunshots and he's in serious but stable condition," said Zwerling. Zwerling said Dawson had a gun Friday morning because he was protecting his house.
Police stormed the home in Crozet shortly before 5 a.m. The Albemarle County officer who shot Dawson is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the state police. Such an investigation is standard practice in these types of cases.
