Get a Free Ride Home after Celebrations

It's the time of year for parties and celebrations, but getting behind the wheel after drinking is a bad idea. One organization guarantees you get home safe.

The Chandler Law Group says your decision after drinking should be simple: get a cab and they'll pay the tab! They're offering free cab rides home within a 10-mile radius of Charlottesville. It's the 18 th year the group has offered a safe ride home.

You may say it won't happen to you, but fast forward and imagine the consequences of drinking and driving.

"You wake up, you've got a headache and you're in jail, because you got a DUI last night...and then it'll haunt you for a long time knowing you could have a safe ride home just by picking up the telephone," said David Kendall with the Chandler Law Group.

With one phone call, you'll be protecting yourself and everyone else who may be on the road.

"Drunk drivers impact all across the board in their community.  Certainly, they themselves aren't the only ones that get injured. I mean, there are other folks that get hurt," insisted Richard Hudson with the Charlottesville Police Department.

The program starts today and runs through New Year's Day. If you are going to take advantage of the offer, all you have to do is mention the Safe Ride Home program when you call for a cab.
