Friday, the 2007 Girls and Mathematics Summer Program ended at UVA. This year, 29 middle school girls attended the camp, learning everything from algebra and geometry to Thomas Jefferson’s wheel cipher.
And what does one participant say is the best part? “I liked the fact that there were no guys in the class. Why? Well it would be a little less pressure to get the answer right," stated Chrissy Houff.
All of the girls who participated are from area middle schools. They say now they feel more prepared for math class when school starts in a few weeks.
