The art museum offers the kids program once a month.
The University of Virginia Art Museum is handing over the canvas and encouraging families to enjoy art together.
On Sunday, they offered Family Art Jam Tours that include discussions and hands on projects geared toward the younger art enthusiast. Tour guides hope they can kick start an interest and appreciation for art in these kids.
Aimee Hunt, the associate academic curator of the UVA Art Museum explained, "It's such a rewarding experience for the kids to be able to come in and actually talk about the art and learn to feel comfortable looking at art and learning to express themselves."
Those running the tours say the kids always surprise them with their insightful comments on the artwork. This time around, the theme was animals. The art museum offers the kids program once a month.
