A water main break caused headaches for morning commuters.
Park Street on the north side of Charlottesville was closed all Wednesday night and most of Thursday because of a broken water main.
The work to fix it took much longer than first expected and made a mess of the morning commute. Crews are finishing up with the pipe installation and filling in a large hole with rock. They will put a temporary patch on top of that so cars can drive on the road.
"We had a 12-inch water main that was cracked and busted basically and it affected two, two-inch service lines which made it a little bit more complicated to fix," explained Charlottesville Director of Utilities Lauren Hildebrand.
The road reopened for normal traffic around 4:45 p.m. Thursday.
