A group of young environmental stewards have vowed to "Pick up America," one road at a time.
The crew has already worked its way along 300 miles of highways in Maryland and Virginia. They have collected more than 17 tons of trash and say they will not stop until they make it to the West Coast.
The "Pick Up Artists" are currently cleaning up Augusta County, with help from local volunteers.
"The trip is half cleaning, half community outreach," explained Pick Up America Co-Founder Davey Rogner. "If we're not cleaning and reaching out to people, letting them know that there are people ready to clean this planet, and ready to come together for a greater cause, it's not really even going to be worth it."
The Pick Up America team will be working its way west through Augusta County and Staunton.
