A Martha Jefferson doctor has signed a deal with USA Hockey.
Doctor Chris Winter is the director of the hospital's sleep medicine center. He's going to work with coaches on improving players sleep schedules while traveling, so even when they're in a different country, they won't have jet lag. Instead, they'll feel like they've been there for days.
Winter says, "Our goal is to make sure we're getting that peak performance time lined up with when they're expected to do their best."
Winter will also help coaches recognize the signs of insomnia and other sleep disorders with players, so they will be able to intervene before it affects a player's performance.
Winter has done the same study with the NBA and Major League Baseball.
